I was not there, but did check the logs, and am able to play music files - very nice!!! I am hoping to make the next one - of course the time zone makes it tough Happy

Aaron,

It has to be a music folder inside your LOTRO folder. You will probably have to create it yourself, and then within that music folder, you can create others. (i.e. for performance, groups, etc.)

It was really a great time and I am confident that we shall have another camp sometime in the future.

I have a question...when we save the file...do we save it under our main music folder...or do we have one in LOTRO folder? and also, this sounds awesome, I hope to be there next time.

PostPosted: Sun Oct 03, 2010 8:57 am    Post subject: Band Camp Chat Log (as captured by Sadie)

Diamiond and Findeladan began the evening by telling us about instruments. Everyone begins with a lute and one other instrument – based on class. Minstrels begin with several instruments and gain the ability to mentor other players in new instruments when the minstrel has leveled to that skill.
To play, you must have purchased the passive skill for the instrument from your trainer. You may purchase instruments from a bard. Right click on the instrument in your inventory to equip it.
To enter music stance, either type /music, or right click your portrait and choose Play Music. ( You must have your instrument equipped for this.)
She then directed us to the Songbook of Laurelin website as a resource for more information and song files.

Alright, Diamiond. If you'd like to continue with Camp.
Diamiond: ok, I will proceed with the next step
Diamiond: So in the Songbook, you can find some helpful posts about the making of ABC files if you are interested
Diamiond: but we won't be talking about that tonight, I just encourage you to bookmark the site and have a read later ;)
Diamiond: Here is the link to the Songs From A to Z:
Diamiond: http://s1.zetaboards.com/Songbook_of_Laurelin/forum/193562/
Diamiond: let's all download the SAME solo song please ;)
Diamiond: here's a nice one: http://s1.zetaboards.com/Songbook_of_Laurelin/topic/3699411/1/
Diamiond: download this (as shown in the visual guide) with right-click 'Save file as' and navigate to your Music folder
Diamiond: my computer automatically has it set to 'All files' but if you notice that yours says 'Text files' change it to 'All files'
Diamiond: some of you know this already (obviously) =)
Diamiond: but type this: /play BlackbirdV2_Solo and then hit Enter
Narwa: in music mode
Diamiond: ah, yes
Findeladan: on fat lute, add file to download cart, then go to cart and download
Diamiond: to stop playing without breaking music mode hit your ~ key
Diamiond: when the music leader say "Tilde out!" that's what it mean, hit your ~ key to stop playing
Diamiond: ok great
Diamiond: now let's try this in raid music
Diamiond: there is only one thing to add to what you typed, and that is: sync
Diamiond: like this: /play BlackbirdV2_Solo sync
Diamiond: when you do this you will show in chat that you are ready
Narwa is ready to play "Blackbird [Solo](2:07) - Ver.2 The Beatles (McCartney/Lennon)."
Talomas is ready to play "Blackbird [Solo](2:07) - Ver.2 The Beatles (McCartney/Lennon)."
You are ready to play "Blackbird [Solo](2:07) - Ver.2 The Beatles (McCartney/Lennon)."
Tefgard is ready to play "Blackbird [Solo](2:07) - Ver.2 The Beatles (McCartney/Lennon)."
Tempo is ready to play "Blackbird [Solo](2:07) - Ver.2 The Beatles (McCartney/Lennon)."
Priscilla is ready to play "Blackbird [Solo](2:07) - Ver.2 The Beatles (McCartney/Lennon)."
Papaver is ready to play "Blackbird [Solo](2:07) - Ver.2 The Beatles (McCartney/Lennon)."
Buddy is ready to play "Blackbird [Solo](2:07) - Ver.2 The Beatles (McCartney/Lennon)."
Diamiond: and if you forget the 'sync' you start playing...
Papaver: so who sez go?
Diamiond: music leader says go
Diamiond: but I'll tell you what the magic words are
Diamiond: you type (but don't do it right now) /playstart
Papaver: anyone can? or just the leader?
Narwa: anyone can, but it's good etiquette to wait for the leader
Diamiond: more than good etiquette, it is protocol
Synchronized playing is about to begin.
Periwynkle: That's so cool!
Tempo: Awesome!!!
Narwa: it sounds incredibly full, it really does sound like a whole orchestra
Diamiond: please do not start another group at the same time
Diamiond: ok everyone Tilde Out!
Diamiond: That is the basics of band
Diamiond: now we should break up into two raids to try some multi-part songs
Diamiond: and choose some musice from each group to perform tonight
Britta: ? you can you rename the files for quicker loading?
Diamiond: you can rename files as you like
Tefgard: Question? Does the song have to be in the 'root' music folder, or can it be in a subfolder as well? many unzip programs put larger zip files into a subfolder for example?
Findeladan: you can put songs in another folder
Findeladan: but u have to tell lotro where, in you .play file name command
Diamiond: any additional folders you need to make must be INSIDE the main Music folder
Tipi: is there a way just to show that folder and not other I have about 3 folder and when I do /play list it a little overwhelming.
Diamiond: I alway play in windowed mode and I have my Windows Explorer open to find what I need
Diamiond: but you can also have the game list what is inside a specific folder inside of Music folder
