Music System & Band News
Breakfast Club News
Aye, startin a new thread here, since "Bring Back th' Band" seems t' have been (at least partly) accomplished.
Butternut, Taumel, Taenzel , Kyma an I all did a bit o' out o' body travelin t' get t' Laurelin Server t' hear The Shades' Winter Concert. (See th' Gallery fer some screenshots.) They was remarkable, considerin that they had a full story t' tell, "illustrated" I s'pose y' might say, by a lot o' musical numbers, some just instrumentals, some with lyrics, but all, (as I understand it) composed an written by th' members o' th' group. Was sad that I only got t' see th' second half-hour of it, but that was well worth seein.
Now, I don't s'pose th' Breakfast Club'll ever climb t' those heights, but I do think we got th' possibility t' be one o' th' best bands in Crickhollow, maybe even in all o' Middle Earth... if we want t' be.
We had a very nice impromptu session after Band Practice last Sunday, a bunch o' us went out an played from th' roof o' th' West Bree Stables, an attracted a small but enthusiastic audience. But last night, on our first official Carolin gig, things was... well, not pretty. I'll take part o' th' blame fer not bein prepared with a song set beforehand, but t' some extent, I didn't know who (if anyone) was goin t' show up, so I didn't know what songs we'd be able t' do.
Goin t' rectify that fer t'morrow's outin, by postin th' list right here; we'll start with 4-part songs, an work our way into th' larger ensembles, in case there's latecomers.
This is what we'll be doin, in this order:
<Edit>Took all th' songs out, so folks wouldn't have t' scroll so far...
That last is only 4 parts, I know, but I like it as a closin piece.
That's near a half-hour o' music there, quite respectable, I think.
PLEASE, if yer intrested at all in doin th' Carolin, sign up on th' Calendar an get all th' music downloaded an in th' Music Folder in yer LOTRO Folder under Documents on yer hard drive. We need folks t' show up ready t' play, so as not t' be fumblin around in front of a audience.
If yer not usin th' Songbook Plugin (which is easy t' get an use) feel free t' change th' filenames t' somethin shorter an easier t' type in, just as long as y' know what everyone else is callin it. It don't make any diffrence what th' file name is fer synchronized playin, LOTRO will play whatever file y' have loaded up... so make sure it's th' same MUSIC everyone else is playin.
Carolin will be Thursday night outside th' Prancin Pony in Bree, at 10pm Server Time
I realize this means that all our Euro folks won't be able t' take part, but here's a thought... Th' music's there, anyone who wants t' organize a earlier outin is more than welcome to; I'm just not available til later in th' evenin this week, but nothin says I got t' be there ;)
If ye've read all th' way t' th' end o' this behemoth of a post, I thank'ee. Hope t' see y' out with instrument in hand Thursday night!

Hey Daffin. Thank you for the post and the in-game mail. I will be at the Prancing Pony at 10:00PM server time. (that's 8:00PM my time so it's perfect for me).
I can play, and will bring the lute, clarinet, bagpipes and horn. I also Have the Songbook Plugin and know how to use it now. I'll have your songs in my song library and test them out to make sure they work beforehand so there's no unexpected surprises at band time.
See ya there

Im sorry to hear that it didnt go so well. But youre right, people who want to come (and are sure about it) should probably sign up for it on the calender.
And again youre right by thinking that its too late for the Euros, otherwise Taumel and I would be there for sure. But no worries, the game wont close tomorrow (will it?) so sometime we can do it again. ;)

I set up a caroling session for 1pm EST/18:00 GMT tomorrow. Hopefully that will work for some of our European timezone players.
Thank you for the memories, Second Breakfasters! Much love to you all. ~ Crickhollow Music
I have completed my dress rehersal. Everything sounds great Dallo. Good luck on your concert and I will be on time and prepared.
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Hopin that this year'll see th' Breakfast Club gettin widely known as th' best musical group in Crickhollow!
Got 2 new numbers in th' Library, "Baby Elephant Walk" (file name is just "Elephant Walk" an a piece named "Rondeau" which is better known as th' "Masterpiece Theater Theme"
Havin introduced them two, let me take th' opportunity t' say that I know very well that my selections o' music may not be t' everyone's taste. I try t' find stuff that I think is musically interestin, but admittedly my choices don't include a lot o' stuff that's been popular over th' last decade or two. This ain't because I won't play that stuff; just that I don't know too much about it. So, if y' have a song or piece o' instrumental music ye'd like t' have th' band take on, let me know, an I'll try t' find a good MIDI arrangement of it t' convert. Ain't promisin t' do EVERYthin I get asked, as I might not be able t' find a suitable version, but I'll do m' best.
If ye've not yet played with us, but are interested, go t' th' File Library on th' Gallery Page o' th' Website: http://secondbreakfast.guildlaunch.com/gallery/library.php?gid=174503 an download th' songs from there into yer Music Folder in th' main LOTRO folder in yer Documents. That way ye'll be ready t' play 'em at practice, which happens every week on Sunday, at Noon, Server Time.
Don't probly need t' pick up all th' Yuole Music fer th' next 11 1/2 months, but get everythin else there.
P.S. "Do You Feel like We Do" is not new this week, it just got deleted by accident, an so I re-posted it.

Well, Hrivelinta's come an gone, an we got thru it with only minor scrapes an burns ;) Many thanks t' Rosie (an Rosalila), Butter an Kanaru fer playin their hearts out an risin t' th' occasion. Also want t' cheer fer Lossenelenwen o' Daro a Maetho, without whom we'd ha' been totally lost. I know she probly won't see this, but if any of ye happen t' run across her in th' next week or so, make sure t' compliment her on a job well done. Inexplicably not a single other member o' Daro showed up, but we did attract a crowd o' roughly 20 (I didn't actually count, but it was in that neighborhood) an a reasonably pleasant time was had by all—naw, just kiddin, th' folks that came all enjoyed it ;)
Still goin t' be addin more numbers t' our repertoire, but possibly not two or three a week as I been doin, leadin up t' Hrivelinta. So come on out t' th' Kinhouse Sundays at Noon (Server Time) an join in! One o' our newest members allowed herself t' be talked into showin up yesterday, an was surprised t' find out how easy an (dare I say) thrillin it is t' be part o' th' music.
No other big concerts planned fer now, but I'd like t' get some random appearances from time t' time (sort o' like carolin, but not Yule music), which'll probly start out as extensions o' th' reg'lar Sunday meetins, but may occur at other times as well, as we get more folks playin with us.
Remember, music is a weapon against th' Darkness! ;)

Yes indeed, a good time was had by all! I did pop over to the kinhouse rehearsal and learn how to work the music system and am delighted to report that I have yet another activity to distract me from questing and actually leveling up my people! Daffin & Co. gave me great assistance and I was able to serenade Yule Fest folk last night in between rounds of the eating contest. (Got Feast Beast, by the way!!)
When I get home I'll add a few screenshots of the festivity--it was so much fun!

Right-o, then, I s'pose this ain't exactly news, but more of a query...
When we had our first couple o' meetins back in November (I think it was) there was 9 or 10 people there, an everyone seemed t' be enjoyin th' hour. But since mid-December, it's been basically just 4 of us: Me, Kanaru, Minyabiq, an Rosie, with her sidekick Rosalila. That's just not enough folks t' play th' stuff I been preparin; we really need 7 or 8. An I know there's folks that are intrested in th' music; can think o' 4 or 5 right off th' top o' my head. So I'm wonderin if we're meetin at th' right time.
So, if ye'd like t' play in a group, but just can't get t' th' Kinhouse at Noon on Sundays, drop me a bit o' response here, an we'll see if there's some other timeframe when more folks could get out.

Got 3 new pieces fer this week, 2 of 'em duets: "Bouree," by some fellow named Jethro, an a sweet contemplative tune called "Beholding As In A Glass" (Beholding.abc) by our very own Diamiond! An then there's a number fer a Big Band, "Bandstand Boogie" (Bandstand.abc) that'll need 7 people t' play all th' parts. So put up yer cleavers an poleaxes fer a hour an come out t' th' Kinhouse at Noon on Sunday!

Got a bit of a announcement, here. Had m' hands full last week with th' Shire Rally an all, but now that that's over, I'd like t' start doin some reglar concertizin with th' Band. Went over t' Elendilmir on Tuesday an Wednesday t' join up with th' Eriador Music Society fer their weekly testin o' new songs, which they do.. well, weekly. Aye, there's that much interest in th' music over there. So I took m' Bandstand Boogie piece over there t' have 'em play thru it with all seven parts, just t' see how it turned out. An y' know, it ain't half bad.
Now I'd like t' think it wouldn't be necessary t' travel way over t' some other server so's t' be able t' play with a dedicated group o' fellow musicians. As a matter o' fact, I'm sure we got plenty o' folks here that could do th' same thing. So this week at th' reglar Band meetin time (Noon Server on Sunday) we'll discuss th' timin o' future concerts. I'm thinkin o' doin 'em in Bree, or Esteldin, or even Galtrev (not certain whether lower level folks can be ported there or not tho...). What we need is at least seven folks t' take a half hour or so t' offer some musical entertainment t' th' dedicated people battlin against th' forces o' darkness, t' lighten their load an bring a bit o' cheer t' th' grim business o' war.
Anyone that's intrested an willin, tell me here who y' are, an what instruments y' play, an I'll make up a concert list an we'll go from there.
OH! An I brought back a absolutely killer rendition o' "Black Magic Woman"! Really well done, but it needs 7 or 8 t' play it!

All righty, then! Th' Breakfast Club is havin its First Official Stand-Alone Concert on Saturday, March 3, at Noon, Server Time! I already know o' 4 (or 5) folks that'll be participatin, but anyone that wants t' get in on it is welcome!
I ain't picked th' location yet, but I'm leanin towards th' Methel Stage in th' Shire (I hope I got th' name of it right). I will be buildin a set list (much as I did fer th' Hrivelinta concert) with all th' numbers, an assigned parts, so th' event can go smoothly. THEREFORE, it's quite important that anyone wantin t' play with us sign up BY WEDNESDAY FEB. 29, an let me know what instruments yer able t' play.
SOLOISTS!
There ain't no reason that anyone should be left out here; if y' have a good number that ye'd like t' perform fer th' 3 1/2 folks that come out t' see us (-o^) let me know an we'll work ye into th' Concert. Only thing is, I'd prefer NOT t' have renditions o' Stairway t' Heaven, Hotel California, or Dust in th' Wind... unless ye've got a totally amazin version that nobody's heard yet.
ONe thing I need t' know: does Second Breakfast have a color identity? An if not, should we figger one out? I personally don't think th' Band all needs t' wear a Uniform, but I would like all th' performers t' be color-co-ordinated.
I'm thinkin perhaps some shade o' blue an gold, but if we already got some color identity, we'l go with that.
Soo, SIGN UP T' BE PART O' TH' CONCERT!! ;)

FIVE new songs this week!
I spent th' last 2 Wednesdays posin as th' Hunter Keridhwen on th' Elendilmir Server so as t' be able t' take part in th' weekly meetins o' th' Eriador Music Society over there. That's a group that meets every week t' test out new musics in Middle-earth, t' see if they sound th' way their transcribers (or in some cases composers) intended. I've contributed a few o' my efforts over there, an have come back this week with th' best o' th' songs that other folks brought. There's one trio, some six- an seven-part tunes, an one absolutely gorgeous number that'll require 9 folks t' play.
T' find an download 'em easily, go t' th' Files Library tab on th' Gallery & Songs page, an then click on th' "Date Uplaoded" header, which'll arrange all th songs by (drumroll) th' date uploaded—latest ones at th' bottom. Click that header again, an it'll reverse th' order—Latest ones at th' top. So y' can easily see what's new in th' list.
An hmmm... Don't see nobody signin up fer th' Concert yet. I'm ASSUMIN th' followin'll be there: M'self, Rosalie, Rosalila, Kanaru, Larksong, Taumel, an possibly Taenzel, assumin her connection is workin over at Taumel's place. I'd LIKE t' see: Buddy, Putzo, Turindoc, Fubuki an anyone else that's got any sort o' int'rest in th' music in Middle-earth.
Edit: Woops! Now there's one more 4-parter that I just worked out an put up ;)
