Storytelling Group Forming
Hello beloved Second Breakfasters, and welcome Wanderers (and other interested folk). As you may know I am deeply invested in the care and feeding of storytellers,
as well as musicians. A couple of up-and-coming bards asked if we could have a special session devoted to the art and craft of a great story; it is a difficult
thing to create a brief and memorable tale, and having me and a few others as a "practice audience" may relieve some of the stage fright and help us learn to
use Lyrical and specific emotes in a way that enhances the telling. Besides myself, you'll meet (if you haven't already) the Dwarf Dufnald, who seeks to retell the proud heritage of his
people in a way that is both entertaining yet mindful of the gravity of the subject. I would like to explore alliterative verse and poetry, but there are so many other poetic
options available, and if you also are a proud English major out of game, it's a grand opportunity to explore language and creative writing that's meant to be "spoken aloud"
yet is read by each player individually without the nuance of a voice. How would you tell a brief story about yourself or your experiences in-game? How would you convey
the high or low points, the humor, the pathos, using nothing but your avatar?
Contact me if you're interested, please! Let's find a time to talk in-game, and may we all rise to the level of the Legendary Twynk Tale.
What a splendid idea! I would love to be part of your audience.
I've used Lyrical a bit and it does take a little getting used to. However there is a new plugin called Poetical (details here) which I keep meaning to look into, sounds like it would be ideal for storytelling.

What a grand idea! I'm glad that Everbrock brought up Poetical, as it is indeed a nice upgrade of Lyrical. Version 1.1.1 was released on May 9th, so be sure to get the new version if you haven't updated yet.
I don't know if I'll be able to make this session, but I'll try my best to participate. Be sure to send this idea out in a kinmail if you haven't already.
