Hmm...“Prancing Pony” in this picture somewhat resembles the Green Dragon.

(Yikes! My hair really looks awful when folks forget to disable the flubbed avatar update from last year.)

Um, yeah . . . I think this is in Butterbur's room for private parties. And doesn't the old avatar option only work for yourself, not for the "you' that other people see?

I've never been able to see a difference- nor in myself nor other folk.  Though maybe that's due to bein' waist-high and not ownin' a mirror of me own...

((Though I really haven't seen a difference in anyone.  Did most people not use the update?))

That is correct.  No matter what you do, you have no control over whether others see the avatar you actually designed or a poor substitute.  By default, users see the much-despised "update" versions.

For years, the options looked they were created by artists struggling with ca.2002 tools.  Ten years later, we got the supposed improvement that, instead, looks to have been created with ca.2008 tools by someone who has never seen a face.

It is most noticeable in Men and Elves, less so in Dwarves. Hobbits have yet to undergo/suffer an avatar update ~ so there would be no difference in yourself to see as yet.

Ha ~ very well put! image

I'm sure there was talk initially from the developers that the update would be in addition to existing avatars, but sadly that seems to have fallen by the wayside.
