Shirefest 2020 is Coming Soon!
Hi everyone!
Shirefest 2020 will be held on the weekend of June 12th through June 14th, at the Methel Stage in Bywater. We'll have bands play on Friday night, and then end with a late-night version of Bread & Jam at the Green Dragon. We'll have bands playing all day Saturday, and then start Sunday with Elevenses in the Green Dragon, and finish up late Sunday night.
Duidhrastir and I will be doing all the prep work and communication with bands up to and through the event, but once again, we can't do everything on our own, and are looking for anyone who wishes to volunteer to help us put on this amazing yearly event!
For those of you in Second Breakfast who wish to dip their toes into the water to check it out, we're more than willing to spend extra time showing you around backstage! As Rosalie once did for me, I wish to pass on the chance to you all, to be an emcee for one or more of the bands playing. This is your chance, not only just to help out, but to shine in the spotlight! I will even personally help you by writing the introductions, if you wish. Obviously, even though we would love to be there from the start of Shirefest to the finish, Duid and I still need things like, sleep, and food, etc and every little bit helps out.
If the spotlight isn't your thing, we have plenty of opportunities to do things backstage.
To everyone who answered the question on their application to become a member of Second Breakfast that stated, " Second Breakfast regularly puts together events for the entire server. Would you like to volunteer or help us plan events?: " with a "yes". Well, this is a chance to show it, to be a part of something bigger than even just Second Breakfast.
Duidhrastir and I would also appreciate any help from those outside of Second Breakfast, you don't have to be a member of SB to be a member of our wonderful Crickhollow music community!
So, we'll be needing help in the form of Security (barely, because the shrews usually don't come near the stage), Concessions (handing out pipeweed, drinks, food, and fireworks), Crafting (making all that stuff to hand out), Travel (cappys to port people), and a continual stream of (non-spammy) advertising for the event in the run up and during the festival in World Chat.
We'll start up a thread where SB members can post to volunteer to help in the upcoming weeks, and any non-members who would like to help can either post here, or IM Duidhrastir or myself!
One more thing...the best way for anyone to help out, is to simply show up! Laugh, dance, joke, or just listen! Bands need an audience more than an audience needs a band. Show your appreciation for our wonderful community by just being there, and cheering them on!
Very exciting! Looking forward to it. ^^
Luventhariel always has such a wonderful way of speaking!
I can not stress enough how very well said this is my friend!
Indeed, Shirefest was passed onto Luventhariel and myself from our late Rosalie. She first gave us a chance to help out with some of the light duty tasks like introducing a few bands or the like. When her time came, she ultimately passed the baton to us and this is now the second Shirefest that Luventhariel and I will have managed!
It really is a lot of fun to do this sort of thing - but it can also be stressful. Don't let that deter you from considering volunteering to help though! I was nervous the very first time I introduced a band but the band leaders have always been very helpful in giving me info which has been more than enough to formulate a small introduction.
There are other ways to help too! We'll be posting a new thread specifically for people to volunteer just as soon as I conjure the band schedule.
Thanks to Luventhariel for her very well written post and as many of you know....I'm very excited! :D
as far as I know, I'll be able to help out in whatever way needed. My life is kind of upside down right now, though, following the death of my husband on the first of this month.
I won't even bother to try to comprehend what you're going through, Cheggra, or compare it to any loss I've had, but can absolutely say that we've always appreciated all the help you've given to us all in the past, and anything you'd be willing to help with now will be equally appreciated. You're a peach, Cheggie. :) *hugs*
I would be interested in announcing bands as scheduling permits.
Belegaer (9); Evernight (23) - 1 Myrtle Court, Thatchacre; Gwaihir (18) - 6 Brookbank Street, Grassvale; Laurelin (25) - 5 Myrtle Court, Berrybridge; Sirannon (25) - 2 Wending Way, Thatchacre
I have many cooks and farmers. Please let me know (in-game preferred) what is desired and in what quantities. I also have a Cappy (Urwyn) who can help some, I just don't know RL timing. =)
Okay, sorry, I thought I had set up the name and all. Seems I didn't. The post above is from Patti et. al. =)
The only two foods I can think of off the top of my head are the [Second Breakfast Coffee] and [Bread & Jam] for Friday night in particular. I'm thinking having a variety of foods for different levels would be good, because food is level-gated, but drinks can be had by anyone. However, also having a variety of drinks based on alcohol? content would be nice, so that those who just want to be Merry instead of Muddling their Wits can do so.
Thanks Patti!!!
If anyone else is interested in promoting our event, this is an example of what my script looks like this year:
Brandywine 2020:
Shirefest, a 29 band concert event will be held on Crickhollow June 12-14 at the Methel-stage south of Bywater in The Shire. Bands include Brandywine's own Midnight Owl Band and Country Bluegrass Band. Come out and support them as they venture over to Crickhollow! For more info and a full schedule go to tinyurl.com/shirefest
I was heading to other servers to advertise Shirefest. My script from last year says that the schedule is on tinyurl.com/shirefest but I don't see that for this year. Where should I be directing folks to see the band schedule?
Tinyurl.com/shirefest leads people to the front page of Crickhollowmusic. There were so many bands this year that putting all the times on the poster made it so muddy as to be nearly unreadable.
For now, you could send folks to see https://www.lotro.com/forums/showthread.php?680343-Crickhollow-Shirefest-2020-Band-Lineup
In the meantime, I will edit the widget that the poster is in to include a schedule, when I get off of work tonight.
Thanks you for your help in all this, Jancis!
