Just a heads-up fer them that'll be there fer t'morrow's Band Practice—I met a Dwarf at Elevenses on Tuesday night who was strugglin with th' musical dimension; not that he wasn't makin progress, he was doin well, but evidently had no one t' show him th' ropes. So I up an invited him t' th' Practice t'morrow.
His name's Dothlanger, an he seems a reasonable sort (fer a Dwarf). So I'm plannin on meetin him 'bout a half hour ahead o' time an gettin him set up with at least somre o'' th' music, an I'm thinkin he may join us permanent-like, tho it's much too soon t' know at this point. I told him he'd not be required t' join th' Kin (He's unaffiliated—or was, on Tuesday), but he might want to after playin with us, we'll see.
Also about t' toss a couple more songs on th' list, so check 'em b'fore th' meetin, if y'can
Oh, almost fergot: Also replaced th' SabreDanse files, addin th' Theorbo; just pick up that part from th' zip; th' rest is unchanged

Aw, this poor thread's been sort o' neglected o' late...
Mentioned this at practice last Saturday, but wanted t' remind folks about th' Craftin Fair in Bree Friday evenin. I won't be able t' be there ('less it runs over 3 hours long) but I'd like a few o' th' Band t' coo-ordinate on puttin on a bit o' entertainment. Trios, duets, solos, whatever. Don't have t' be real organized, an don't have t' go fer any longer than yer havin fun doin it. Fair starts at 6PM, Server Time in th' Craftin Hall in Bree.
Also, I'd put another Festival Concert on th' Calendar fer Saturday, 'cause I thought th' Spring Fling was goin t' have started already, but now it's been postponed. So I figger we'll all meet as usual at Noon, an then decide if we want t' go somewheres an play some tunes, after runnin thru th' new stuff that Willowing's provided this week

just wanted to let you know ill be on weathertop a bit earlier, so you all dont need to ride there..just have 5 travelling rations for the port...oh and ive added a few songs to the library, maybe we have the chance to play em^^
I am on nobody´s side, because nobody is on my side.
I am new to the band wondering and was about the Weatherstock thingy. If someone could hook me up with a in-game mail about what songs we're going to play, when it is,etc.
Also, if someone could teach me a new instrument that would be great.

Champions are CC classes. How can mobs fight when they're dead?
Philion, th' songs we'll be doin AT weatherstock are 1.) Far Over th' Mist Mountains (FarOver), 2.) Always look on th' Bright Side o' Life (BrightSide), 3.) Riverdance, an , if we get a Encore, 4.) Timewarp
Then there's a number at th' end o; th' whole thing (an we're th' first band up, so it'll be a long wait) which I ain't picked yet, because I'm tryin t' find out how long it ought t' be. What happens is, all 9 bands go t diffrent spots an play, an th' audience votes with their feet fer their favrite Band, by goin an standin with 'em. I dunno how long it takes fer that process, or how long is allowed, an I want t' pick somethin that won't be too short nor too long. Our contact in Landroval is tryin t' get a answer on that, so I'll know more later.
We are ALSO doin a concert by ourselves over in Landy on th' 9th (two weeks from t'day), fer which I ain't picked out th' numbers yet, but I will by Saturday's practice
Again, here's th' link t' th' Official Weatherstock Info:

We tried out the sync dancing yesterday and the result is that it would be better if the band stands on top of the rocks and the dancers down in front and around the rocks. If we make a circle including the band it would be too huge and the "band formation" would kinda be lost (the band doesn't stand close together enough as it should).
Besides that the dance_elf2 needs alot of space. If the audience are too close we could switch to the man dance.. I think it was dance_man2 (got to check again).
Only complicated thing is to exactly know when to start dancing, after which pause in the song or something. If every dancer pre-types the dance command and just needs to hit enter in the right moment, then it won't be hard to have it more or less synced.

Sounds good; I realize I hadn't taken th' elevation o' th' rocks into account when visualizin th' thing. Yer right, th' players ought t' be on th' rocks, an th' Dancers right against th' rocks, but on th' ground. I don't think fer a serious piece like this that we want folks levitatin...
It'll be easy t' identify th' note when all three parts are playin; I got a idea about that, we'll work it at th' next meetin
I know that that dance covers some ground; I'm hopin that folks'll move back a bit t' accomodate th' performance...I don't think they'll be breathin down our necks anyway

It'd be nice; but t' be honest, I ain't sure we can afford th' time; we got 3 more meetins until Weatherstock, includin th' one on th' day of. In those rehearsals we got t' assign th' parts everyone'll play, practice th' dancin (an I know how t' arrange that now, but it'll require some actual repetitive rehearsals t' make sure it goes right), an also practice switchin b'tween songs, as our total music time is 11:53, an techincally, we only got 12 minutes t' play in. Now, I don't think they'll turn th' lights off on us or anythin, but really, we need t' move from one song t' th' next as fast as possible. An that'll require some practice.
Add t' that th' Rally comin up, (which I'm still lookin fer volunteers fer,by th' way) an my plate is pretty full. But anyone that wants t' organize somethin on their own is more than welcome to, long as it don't impinge on our scheduled rehearsal time.
Now it does occur t' me that we also have a concert at 2PM in a bit less than 2 weeks, which I'm still workin out. So on th' 9th, we could mebbe do that concert in Bree at 11:00, as a dress rehearsal, like, then practice fer Weatherstock at noon, an then head over t' Landy an do th' Concert again. That's a longish day, but not as long as th' Weatherstock day itself, so mebbe that's also a good thing t' get used to, I dunno.

I would like to voice my concern that we're adding too many songs at one time every week.
I'm concerned that if a new player joins the kin and wants to be in band that downloading 100+ songs might come off as overwelming. Even I found it quite a task to replace all of my files with the new ones (and still not done because I haven't added several songs from the other sections that aren't in the band section).
I think we have plenty at the moment to play with. I think each song should at least experince some concert time and that we should play them several times. Basically wear them out before adding something fresh.

I'll admit, there's a point t' be made about that. Truth is, tho, with th' Rally an everythin, I've had no time t' think about concerts fer th' past weeks, an without new songs, there's not much reason t' hold a Band Meetin every week. We COULD go out an do some impromptu concertizin at that time each week, but lately, it's been hard t' know who's goin t' show up of a Saturday. T'day, fer instance, Doth got timewarped hisself somehow, an didn't show up til a hour late, Rosie wasn't there, Bugo wasn't there, Lattie appeared but begged t' be excused on account o' her bein in a good deal o' pain, Taenzel's computer is still sick, so she wasn't there... so there was just 5 o' us.
Mebbe we just ought t' meet at th' Boar Fountain each week fer th' rest o' th' Summer an play whatever numbers we got enough parts fer... but that means it's even easier fer folks t' say, "Oh, I got other things t' do t'day, I just won't go."
So what do th' rest o' ye think?
Should we just stop havin Band Meetins? (I hate this idea, but I'm throwin it out there)
Or should we play in public? If we did, who would promise t' be there?
I can work up a set list o' 4-, 5- an 6-part songs each week, I spose.
Or should we keep on as we have been doin?
Mebbe I ought t' make this a poll, but I'd rather hear actual comments, rather than anonymous points on a chart...

i dont like the idea of not meeting once a week - i mean come on, its one hour in a week, that cant be too much now can it?
..of course if most of us dont want to do this anymore on a regular basis i wont object, but i dont really see a good reason for dropping this..once were at the kinhouse we can still decide whether we play new songs if we have em and the numbers, or go to bree or somewhere and play a few songs there..shouldnt be too hard to figure out some songs there, after all weve done this often enough now (without premade playlists).
as for people not showing, most of the time it seems like theres important rl stuff keepin them from doin so, and as such its mostly temporary..see lattie yesterday, i guess for rosa its also something important keepin her, taens pc is just dead atm, etc..all of those issues are not permanent, and the numbers we have now are not fewer than all those months when we started out. maybe im fearing that what we build up to now may fall apart if we start to skip practice/meeting altogether..might be very well a paranoid thought, not sure really^^
as for the bulk of songs needed to be actually useful in the band, yes its a pain when you first enter the breakfast music site, but once youre up to speed its really not so bad to dl a few songs every week..well, thats my opinion and i remember not likin the site very much at first myself^^
and we could offset that quite easily if one of us makes packages with everything from the music site and put a zip up on this site, maybe refresh it every few months.. i for one have the new stuff from breakfast music in a seperate folder and could easily do this, name it something like "everything band related as of..uuum..22.7." or so.
