Weatherstock IV
I want to say yes--but will remain somewhat on the fence for right now. I will let you know for certain when the date comes closer, but for now pencil me in as a strong maybe. I will definitely do everything I can to make it for Weatherstock, at least for our set and Symphonious.
Thank you for the memories, Second Breakfasters! Much love to you all. ~ Crickhollow Music
Here's a bit of info about the concert series. I wish I had seen it in time to post and to visit, but there'll be another one: http://casualstrolltomordor.com/2012/05/weatherstock-concert-series-1/.
I noticed that the band pictured has some very fancy completely-matched outfits, (they even have their own web site!) but have mixed feelings about that. It looks nice, but then again I like our blend tied together by sea blue. I'm not keen on the yellow--don't care for blue and yellow together--but that's just personal preference and I don't mind going with what you think is best. However, the sea blue is very sharp and draws attention on screen so it has been a great choice. We really need to settle on a look pretty soon.
If we can I'd love if we can attend the next weekly concert to see a bit more of who we'll be playing with.

Well, we got ourselves a full concert slot at 2PM Server Time on Saturday June 9. I know that's a bit later than some folks have usually been able t' stay fer practice, but mebbe with some advance notice, arrangements can be made? Or if we go over with only a Quartet or Quintet, that'd work too.
But get yer characters ready! an let me know who they are, so I can tell our roadie over in Landroval, an also get 'em into th' Kinship there!
Oh, an Willow, Aye, I think our character as a group is better expressed by bein tied t'gether with color, but NOT regimented into a Uniform. Would still ask ye t' add SOME yellow somewhere; gloves, mebbe, or a hat. After this is all over we can talk about mebbe changin th' colors, but I don't want 't throw that monkey into th' wrench at this point

I made me a little hobbit lass on Landroval so I can come cheering for you if I have time (and I hope I will ^^). She knows 3/8 dances and I hope I'll be able to teach her a few more today, also to get her a nice outfit so she'll look pretty.
I also made her a scholar in hope to be able to make dyes for outfits, but I don't think I'll come far with that any time soon. :D

Battle o' th' Bands
Finally learned how this works, in detail: All 9 bands go t' spots around th' edge o' Weathertop (be careful o' yer footin!) and play, while th' folks stroll around, listenin t' each band as they make up thier mind. Been told this COULD take as long as 10 minutes or so; Pretty much, when everyone stops movin, Harperella (th' leader o' th' Lonely Mountain Band, our hosts) calls time, an people get counted as t' which band they stayed with. So. We need mebbe 3 songs, an I think we'll start with doin Riverdance again, just t' remind folks of our set. after that, I think one or more o' these numbers:
Hallowed (5 parts)
HazyShade (7 parts) (Simon an Garfunkle tunes seem t' go over well)
Hawaii 5-0 (5 parts)
Elephant Walk (5 parts)
Blue Moon (7 parts)
Bandstand (7 parts)
Baby it's Cold Outside (6 parts)
Begin th' Beguine (8 parts)
I'm goin t' ask y' all t' load up all o' them numbers, so we can make decisions on th' fly, seein what type o' music other bands have played an whatnot. We may not still have everyone by that time in th' evenin, hence th' 5- an 6-part songs. Some o' th' Euro folks may go off fer a nap, an if their alarms don't function proper, we might not see 'em again ;)
So that's th' Priliminary Set. If anyone's got any concerns, feel free t' reply here, or write me a PM on this site, an we'll deal with it.
Thanks fer bein a great band!

Just a lil concert about people showing up / staying / with technical issues... Not saying anyone of the above wouldn't be reliable, but it can always happen that something comes up, someone missed the time or has trouble with something. If that happens it would be good to have 2 or 3 songs handy for backup that don't require as many parts as e.g. Riverdance. Nobody else can jump on a part if someone is missing, if I see it right.
Rosie's plannin t' be there, but asked that I let other folks do all th' playin. But if someone DCs, I'll ask her t' step in. Oh! sorry, Rosie, mebbe I should ha' mentioned that t' ye first... but I figger ye've already assumed it ;)

Oh! One other thing; a couple o' ye'll mebbe be wonderin "Who is this Lossen person?"
Lossenelenwen (Lossen fer short, 'cause that name's just too bleepin long...) is th' Leader o' Daro A Maetho Kinship here on Crickhollow. Back about 5, 6 months ago when we was first tryin t' get th' band goin again, he was kind enough t' come fill holes in our ranks fer several concerts, an did a great job of it, too. I asked him if he'd like th' chance t' play with us, as he's a sort o' "honorary member" o' th' Band. He won't be able t' stay after our set, but he's excited t' get t' be part o' th' Festival
Taenz, t' continue answerin yer question, Lossen'll have t' leave about 4:35 t' get hisself t' work, but our set should be windin up at 4:32. So if needed, he could also fill a slot on Riverdance. (See, I'm thinkin o' these things... but good t' know that ye are, too ^.-)

Th' other 3 are all durin th' remainder o' th' weekend, so I'll certainly plan on goin t' them. Especially want t' support Symphonious, our fellow Crickhollow entrants. Hope lots o' us can be there fer that. ;)

Could ha' kept goin in th' last post there, but this is a diffrent issue, so...
We just added two more folks t' th' entourage!
Fortinred just joined us, but he's very enthusiastic about th' Band, an Mitril, who's been with SB fer a month or so now, somehow never noticed that we HAD a Band, but now that he knows, he's also eager t' take part.
However, since our show has got t' be tight, so we don't run afoul o' th' time limit, I've asked both if they'd be willin t' come along as members, but basically act as back-ups durin our set, in case anyone that's already plannin on playin has t' miss it fer whatever reason. An then we'll work 'em into th' Battle o' th' Bands at th' end. Both of 'em have agreed t' that, an I hope they'll both come an be part o' th' Concert on th' 9th, altho that may run afoul o' Mitril's work schedule...
Anyways, glad t' have a two new Band members! Never thought we'd reach this size, a couple o' months ago...

Th' plan fer Saturday is t' meet at Weathertop again an work a bit on th' Dances fer Far Over, an then run th' entire set, makin any adjustments in instruments that might be necessary. Then I want t' run thru th' transitions b'tween numbers a couple o' times, so we're used t' doin that.
Th' followin week is our Concert at 2PM, an I figger on makin up a list o' numbers fer that next week, an at practice we can just divvy up th' parts like we do when tryin out new songs. If folks'll be prepared t' note what instruments they're playin on what songs, then that's all we'll really need t' do. Then we'll all go t' Landroval, an get our outfits dyed, an be ready fer th' Concert in plenty o' time (I hope)

If I knew I could come then I would. And also what time we would actually play. Around 6pm I have dinner and I would have to leave. At this rate it's looking like I'm not going.
Word of advice on band positions. Louder instruments should be towards the back so they don't completely drown out the quieter ones.
My suggestion would be
Horns, bagpipes, and possibly drums at the very back, clarinets and flutes in the middle, and lutes, harps, and theorbos in the front. If you have more than one of the same type of instrument they should be together.
