Second Breakfast in 2013
2013 was another great year for Second Breakfast. Outside of the game our members welcomed new babies, new spouses, new jobs, and new homes. We did plenty of that in the game as well. Many new friends joined and quite a few old friends returned. All in all, it was a very eventful year.
Here's what else we were up to...
The year started out with the afterglow of our second annual Hrivelinta. We also helped contribute to our Landy Godmother Harperella's victory as Top Guild Leader.
In January we drew the winner for our Yuletide Sweepstakes, and Hazvar took home the big prize.
And we kicked off February in style with the ABC's Rally. Hey, when's Daffin gonna have another one of those?
We kept busy in March and April with skirmish nights, ally events, deeding, Bread & Jam and Elevenses. And Lotro celebrated the 6 year anniversary.
Christian and Wynde held some great instance nights in May. We joined Mist & Shadow for their RP event, and they joined us (along with many of our other friends) for our third annual Memorial Day Cookout.
Throughout the summer, the Breakfast Club band worked hard on their sets for Weatherstock and the pre-show concert series, and played a few gigs around Crickhollow. It was the band's third effort at Weatherstock, and they received many compliments on their fine work.
Willowing kept track of our member achievements throughout July, August and September, but she stopped because you all stopped sending her news! Want to bring it back? Start telling her what you're up to again. (July 7, July 14, July 21, July 28, August 4, August 18, September 8, September 22)
Throughout the summer we were looking forward to taking back our Greyheight neighbourhood. And then the houses didn't open up when we anticipated. The houses finally started to come into the market, and by the end of it we'd reclaimed all but one house for our active kin members. In August we held A Moveable Feast, a tour around our housing neighbourhood and an introduction to some of our new shared storage houses.
September's Crafting Faire was quite a success for everyone involved. We held a couple of gathering contests prior to the event, and handed out materials and items like candy. The following week we took over the Boar Fountain to celebrate the 3rd anniversaries for Crickhollow, Second Breakfast and Seeds & Stems. And we even raised a glass to Bilbo & Frodo as they celebrated their birthdays.
Throughout the fall we shared our interests in music, movies, TV and other games (you're still very welcome to share yours). And we revamped our old Halloween event and took it over to The Haunted Hill.
Laurinda participated in NaNoWriMo in November, as Simera has in the past. And she also found time to band together with Ajarel for an evening of Pipe-weed and Hide-and-Seek. Ajarel was ready for more right away, and teamed up with Bethia for Feasts and Goblins. Helm's Deep came out sometime in between--who can even keep track of non-SB events?
And with our Winter Carnival, we take things full circle.
I have no doubt that 2014 will be even better. Happy New Year, everyone!
Thank you for posting this, Rosalie! The kinship has been busy this year with all sorts of fun things it looks like!
NaNoWriMo was a great thing to take part in; I think I learned a lot. I'll definitely be better prepared for when I tackle it again this year. And Pipe-weed and Hide-and-Seek with Ajarel was great fun! I'm glad we were able to host that event for everyone and that it went so well. ^^
I've really enjoyed getting to know everyone in this kin--it's really a wonderful one--and I look forward to seeing what this new year brings.
