MyLOTRO blogging - Fun times that I never expected.
~wavies Howlo!~
When I heard that Lord of the Rings Online was going to finally revamp their abysmally sluggish forums, I was overly stoked. Later after skimming the forums, a dread sort of hit me. One of sinking panic, especially when they mentioned the possibility of ripping every feature out. The community was a bit relieved when news that the Lottery would be fought for, and "hopefully" kept in one piece. It didn't calm the entire community as some of us folks who took to blogging in MyLotro were not sure what would happen of our own little treasure troves of blogging. I am still not sure, but I did however copy one of my short random stories to a document on my pc.
I'm going to miss some of the other features, all of them involving the mylotro frivolities. (Buddy list and the wall where visitors occasionally write a message.) There is at least one I will celebrate the removal of, definitely, the Reputation contest. I couldn't hide into gray mode fast enough. Curiosity got the most of me yesterday, and I had to peek before the system was entirely nuked, I found that I was given a rank of "Watcher of Roads". Quaint, but I will be relieved when the battle of the whole thing will go the way of the Dodo. Visiting the buddy list reminds me of old/new friends, wether they are simply from the forums, or someone I've met in one of LOTRO's many expansion pack betas.
While I've got a few things planned to do when the revamp happens. For the most part, it would be nice to be able to stay logged into the forums when submitting posts. The LOTRO forums really need to lose that "beta" status it has now for so many years. It is so bogged over for some reason. They are just so cumbersome nowadays. Wish I knew XML stuff so that I could revive my old blog posts, but for the most part they are just minor ramblings of myself. The friendly visitor comments are the parts I will miss the most.
