Have you ever heard of Esmerelda Took-Rumble? You haven’t!?!? Oh no, poor granny will be heart broken!
Well, ok, she’s already heartbroken. Why? You ask … Several month ago some of those tall dirty looking men came into Oatbarton. Brigands, I think I’ve heard folks call them before. Anyway, these Brigand men walked right into Granny Took-Rumble’s shop — Stichins (she’s a tailor!) — and stole all of her most cherished patterns right out of the jewelry box Granny had them hiding in. She thought by keeping them there instead of in her safe that they would … well, be safe. Oh, I love that Granny of mine. People say I remind them of her, but I’m not sure why…
Anyway, I told Granny that I was going to brave the world beyond the Shire and go find those patterns of hers. She told me I was going to get killed… you know, she was right …. I didn’t even make it out of the Shire before I had to be taken to The Hobbit Health Center. *shrugs* I’m a bit of a … um …. klutz.
Along the way, at The Golden Perch, where I was playing a set, I met an interesting character … a burglar. I like to think I’m a musician, but really, I don’t think I’m too good. Actually, I bill myself as the Mediocre Minstrel. *shrugs* Anyway, this burglar I met … she is a strange little thing, but she keeps me on my toes and she’s real cute too. For some reason, she said she needed to get out of town. I was curious about her, so I trailed her!! My inspiration was listening to all those stories about Bilbo and Frodo Baggins! Oh, exciting!!
I wasn’t very good at it. She noticed me after about ten minutes….and wanted to know what I was doing. When I told her, she laughed and invited me along. I don’t think she likes me much, but she keeps me around and I’m real happy about that. It’s nice to have a protector of sorts.
So yeah, that’s why I’m braving the big world ….
